These days a lot of people are avoiding coconut for health reason. For those who don't want to make the coconut chutney with idli dosa try this chutney instead. Thank you aie for this recipe.
2 dry red chilies
1 tsp tamarind
3-4 tsp hot water
1 tbsp grated coconut
2 large onions chopped
1 large tomato roughly chopped
1 tbsp Oil
Soak the chillies & tamarind in hot water. Leave aside for ½ hr
Sauté the chopped onion until they turn transparent, add the tomatoes fry them until they are well cooked, then add the coconut. Stir for 5 more minutes. Switch off the gas. Let the tomatoes n onions cool.
Grind all the ingredients to make chutney, add salt.
Give tadka of udid dal, curry leaves, hing & turmeric.
Serve with idli, dosa or onion uttappa :)
