Today I had the opportunity to conduct a "cooking workshop" with little angels (most of them aged 3) in a nursery here in Muscat. Kids loved cutting the strawberries on their own, some of them ate the fruit while cutting it (cute isn't it?). Since the workshop was conducted for little toddlers microwave was the safest option to cook (comparing with gas). I cooked the same recipe using the microwave. here's the recipe --
Ingredients:3 cups strawberries
juice of lemon (2 drops so that the yoghurt doesn't crystallize )
1/4 cup sugar (you can add more, i like it less sweet)
2 cups yogurt (thick yogurt)
Method
Cut strawberries into small pieces, add sugar & lemon juice mix it & place them into a microwave safe bowl, uncovered for 4-5mins on high power. mash the strawberries well. When the strawberries cool add into thick yoghurt. serve chilled.
Fresh Strawberry yogurt
Its been almost a yr and a half now that I've eaten ice creams, I stopped eating them during pregnancy, I would rather like to thank my gynaec for this!!! :-) I feel frozen yogurts are a healthier alternatives to ice creams. Since I was off ice creams, I got hooked on to fruit yogurt & frozen yogurt. But the one I always picked up from market were always very sweet & full of added preservatives therefore I decided to give it a try and make strawberry yogurt at home and it turned out pretty well!Ingredients:
3 cups strawberries
1 lemon (juice)
1/4 cup sugar (you can add more, i like it less sweet)
2 cups yogurt (thick yogurt)
Method
Slice strawberries and heat them along with lemon juice and sugar and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Remove from the heat and make puree.
Let cool then mix in the yogurt.
Chill in the fridge for a couple of hours.
Serve with fresh srawberries
For frozen yogurt:
chill the yogurt in deep freezer for 6 hrs, remove and churn it in a mixer, and again deep freeze for a couple of hrs.
Scoop out and garnish with fresh strawberry.
enjoy !
